All right! Enough of this nonsense! Euclid Collective has gone on an unofficial hiatus (what with exams and triumphant returns to summer) but that dark time is over! Coming at you with a new song, I present Mother Protect’s ‘Niki & the Dove (Goldroom Remix).’ This disco inspired track bangs hard and doesn’t stop. It made me want to dance, and certainly made me want to sing with that insane vocal track. The strong piano chords are excellent accompaniment. I think it’s a great track to do some summer driving to. I loved it and so should you.
Hope you enjoy!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Elliott Smith is fantastic. I’m on a definite Elliott Smith relapse, and the album in particular that I’m playing again is New Moon. ‘Half Right’ from that album is stellar and you must listen to it now. When it played the other day I almost mistook this one for Death Cab but I recognized it quickly. Anyway, I won’t mess around and waste your time, just check this one out. (It’s better than studying…)
Hope you enjoy!

Goddammit do I love Japandroids. This is the first (or second? I can’t remember) single off of their upcoming album Celebration Rock. The House That Heaven Built is classic Japandroids

Lovely little ditty by This is the Kit, titled Moon. I actually heard about them via The National’s Facebook feed, so whaddya know. Thanks Berninger & Co.!

I have been simply loving this track that I’ve most recently latched on to. Whitest Boy Alive’s ‘Golden Cage’ is an amazing track that delivers flowing bass, as well as some unforced and elegant melody riffs. I first heard Golden Cage remixed by Fred Falke, which also stole my heart away, but it wasn’t until just recently that I sat down and listened to the original. In both tracks, it’s mostly the simple and gentle vocals that win me over. A winner for sure. I hope you check it out.
Hope you enjoy!

p.s. Dreams, the studio album featuring Golden Cage is one of my favourite albums of recent memory. I highly recommend.
Holy Shintos! A track to remember, ‘And I Say’ by Nicolas Jaar (yes, he dominates a great deal of my posts) is a freakin’ bomb shell. Jaar rocks it with his classic, simple jazz pieces, featuring vocals by Scout LaRue as well as tastefully placed sax and hand drum parts. I absolutely melt over Jaar tracks, which are never rushed, always carefully crafted, and honestly, just plain seductive. This song is no exception. Check it out!
Enjoy!

ps I’m off to see Nicolas Jaar this Friday at Revival! Will my life ever be the same?
I Doubt it.
Excellent electronica song by 13 & God, a collaboration between The Notwist (whose Neon Golden remains one of my favourite albums) and California-based Themselves. Perfect Speed features gorgeous vocals, and stellar percussion sections.
Hot off the presses! Sweet merciful Lord, this is a bumping track. Unbelievable, driving quarter kicks kill it in this Euro-house track. The vocals are artfully filtered in and out such that sometimes they’re in the spotlight, then taking a back seat to the drums and synth.
Also, it’s simple really, but to have three similar beat drops works very well for me with this one. The first comes at 0.16, but then a HUGE one comes a minute later when they take it to the next level, crisp up the instrumentals and vocals and make it more focused in general. They do this again at the 3.50 mark. It’s stellar. Highly recommended.
Hope you enjoy!

Here’s a classic that I hadn’t heard for a while up until last night (an excellent cover at the local bar). This is Your Love by The Outfields.
An excellent cover of Japandroid’s Wet Hair by electronic artist Teen Daze. I’m a sucker for both shoegaze influence and 8-bit, so this is basically perfect. Thanks to Peter Demers for the heads up!
